Tasty Tasty Dog Food Last night, after going to the movies, a group of us struck up a conversation at a restaurant with some other guys (over the definition of soup versus stew... strange). One of the guys randomly mentioned he was from Ireland, and the conversation then turned to how frozen salisbury steak tasted almost like dog food. The Irish guy then said, "Actually, dog food tastes better than some of that frozen stuff." I automatically blurted out, "And he should know what dog food tastes like, he's from IRELAND." I don't think that made me any friends. Link to this article Posted at 10:32:05 AM EST by copus
Hitler vs. Elmo As seen above a urinal at Larry's Main Entrance in Highland Square:
Man, Elmo must have done SOMETHING to make Hitler mad. Link to this article Posted at 08:15:59 AM EST by copus

Hiatus... maybe I've got a lot of things going on lately, so the blog is definitely taking a backseat. First and foremost, poor three-legged Shoester apparently had some sort of incident while I was on work travel last week, and suffered some sort of nerve damage, either through a pinched nerve, a ruptured disk, or similar neck trauma. He has no use of one of his front legs, and limited use of the other. He's being put on steroids for a bit to see if that helps, but he'll probably have to be put to sleep. Other than that, I've had a couple of sudden jarring job-related changes that are making things slightly more stressful at work ( although at least I still have a job ;-) ). And I seem to be doing a lot of work travel. And it's the peak (or post-peak, as of Saturday) of football season. Anyway, a multiple-way tie has finally been broken in the Six Word Story contest. The winner? -matt ho The Prize?
A totally classy Indians tie. I guess leaving things a tie would have been appropriate, then. Link to this article Posted at 09:49:36 PM EST by copus
Blueteeth I'm sitting on my Mac right now playing with my new phone. Yes, I finally got rid of Zach Morris's cell phone. Not that my LG VX9800 is much smaller. But it has Verizon's crippled Bluetooth! Of course, crippled for non-geeks. Need a good way to tranfer files easily? Try BitPim. It's open source and syncs with a crapload of phones. Of course, getting it to work with my setup isn't quite trivial, but luckily, some other people figured it out before me. It doesn't work for everyone, but it worked for me. Next up? Bluetooth modem. I feel like such a tech whore tonight. Link to this article Posted at 08:36:31 PM EST by copus
An Election In Six Words Or Less Thanks to Beams, the Six Word Stories Vote page is up. Remember, it is your right and duty to vote (for short phrases that convey a whole story). Also, remember to Get Out The Vote, so that others may make the world a better place (by voting for short phrases that convey a whole story). Link to this article Posted at 06:56:31 AM EST by copus

Link to this article Posted at 10:31:40 AM EST by copus Dick Move Patience is a virtue, especially when standing in line at the grocery store. I was in the deli section on Saturday, and there was only one person in line in front of me. As the person at the counter was finishing up with a rather long order, I stepped to the front, and a lady walked up, TOOK A NUMBER TICKET, and got to go in front of me. I didn't realize taking one of those little number tickets was mandatory, even if there's NO CROWD. Even better, the lady and her husband taste-tested about four different pasta salads, and then bought a quarter pound of about a dozen different meats and cheeses... all of which had to be sliced. Now that I think of it, there's no real point to this story... I was just annoyed, and I want the little "take-a-number" dispenser to die a horrible horrible death. In happier news, if I can get the voting system set up tonight (or convince Beams to do it), the vote will start tomorrow for the best Six Word Stories. Judging from the number of submissions, and the average number of votes cast in previous contests, my guess is two or three votes for the same story should be enough to win.
