The damage done As promised, the infamous Mirror of Death: ![]() Link to this article Posted at 09:06:51 PM EST by copus
Exploding Mirrors During the Browns game tonight, a couple of people were over watching the game and cooking out. While sitting in the basement, we heard a really loud crashing sound. It turns out the large mirror in my "pink" bathroom spontaneously exploded off of the wall, crashed to the ground and shattered while cleaving one of the ceramic soap dishes attached below the mirror. Whoah. I took some pictures, which will get posted eventually. Whoah. Link to this article Posted at 11:09:49 PM EST by copus
The Normal Rockwell Code The Normal Rockwell Code. Hilarious, but I probably would have found it a little funnier if I'd actually read or seen the Da Vinci Code. Even funnier, the YouTube commenters seem to believe that this is really going to be a movie. Idiots. Link to this article Posted at 09:39:55 PM EST by copus
Motivation What motivates us? Is it some inner drive? Is it love? Is it responsibility for others? Is it the desire to for power? Is it inspirational posters hung in your workplace? Well, now you can create your own motivational posters via the wonders of the internet. My friends spent quite a bit of time on this site, as can be sampled here (note: most of the ones we made are inside jokes or very specific to our situations.... so you aren't likely to find them nearly as funny as we did): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Link to this article Posted at 09:35:45 AM EST by copus
Time Warner is money is the root of all evil One of the reasons I was happy to be moving out of my old apartment was the ability to get "real" cable instead of "weird selective (but cheap) apartment" cable. The day the "real" cable installer showed up to "install" my cable, his only job was to set up the cable outside the house and give me a digital cable tuner. He still managed to crack some of my ceiling lights. Thanks, guy. Some of the digital channels came in fine, but many of them didn't come in at all. Even some of the network stations didn't come in due to line noise. Well, that wasn't a huge deal, because I was planning on upgrading to HDTV rather quickly. Of course, the guy who dropped off the new HDTV tuner *couldn't* be the same guy to fix my line problems. I had to schedule the "repair" for today from between 4pm to 6pm, meaning that I would have to miss some work. I showed up to my house around 3:45, and about five minutes later I opened up my front door and a "we missed you" sign fell out. It said they stopped by at 4:05pm but I wasn't there. I love fraud. So, around 4pm I called Time Warner to complain. They told me the guy showed up at 3:24pm when he left the card. Thanks, guy. As I was on the phone complaining, my other phone rang, and, on a hunch, I answered. It was another Time Warner person, asking if I was home for the repair guy to stop by in a few minutes. Sure, great. No time lost, just a weird little fraudulent note. Well, over two hours pass, so I call Time Warner yet again to complain. Of course, this time I'm put on hold. After a fifteen minute wait, the phone representative heard my story and put me on hold. Again. After another wait, I now have the privilege of waiting at my house from 6pm to 8pm TOMORROW for someone to come and "fix" my cable problem. And I'm sure they'll just claim my internal wiring is bad or something. Thanks, tomorrow guy. Beverage……………………….…………………….$4.50 Being listed once could be passed off as a spelling mistake. But, twice, it's GOTTA be true! I bet lion is pretty tasty. Maybe this is part of "diversity awareness week" at work. This meal makes us aware of Ted Nugent. Link to this article Posted at 11:54:09 AM EST by copus
Wondermark is Wonderful As I'm sitting in my basement marvelling at the nose hairs on Carson Palmer, I saw a great commentary on terrorism via Boing Boing. That site also has an insightful treatis on the workplace. Link to this article Posted at 08:17:55 PM EST by copus
The Geek shall inherit the basement Wow, the home theater is now mostly set up. I decided that mounting the projector on the ceiling was a higher priority than replacing the bedsheet with a real screen:
Trust me, the bedsheet doesn't look half bad. And my ancient digital camera doesn't do the room any justice. Now I just need to move my MythTV box downstairs so we can play 3,300 old Nintendo games on the big screen. Link to this article Posted at 05:52:25 PM EST by copus
With baited breath My latest new toy just shipped. Now I just need to figure out how to build my own screen. I know what to do, I just need the sweet carpentry skillz to do it. Link to this article Posted at 09:22:43 PM EST by copus
