Zero Hour Hmmm... I just read about a movie where a former fighter pilot named Ted Stryker is forced to fly a jumbo jet after the crew gets sick from food poisoning. Strangely enough, the movie was NOT Airplane! I guess the entire plot was adapted from the movie Zero Hour! In fact, I guess the producers even bought the rights to the film for the adaptation. Wow, the more you know.... Link to this article Posted at 07:17:25 AM EST by copus
Super Soaker gone wrong Man, I think the design and marketing people at Super Soaker have some "issues." And, if you wish to buy your own, Amazon has it. I just wanted to provide a link to the content as is befitting web etiquette. http://www.neilswaab.com/comics/wiggles/ Again...content is, er, lewd. Student Domination Slashdot had a post regarding the last fighting ninja. The advice they though most relavent? "Always be able to kill your students." The funny thing is that this was something I always kept in mind back when I was a teaching associate. I only had to put this into practice a few times. Note to James... James, While you are down in the Dayton area, if it is possible please check out Cadillac Jack's in Kettering. They are almost always on the high score list of the bar NTN trivia. I would like to know what that place is about. -Matt Ho (Also, please use your "So...you like Dayton?" line on some unknowing lady.) Link to this article Posted at 10:57:37 PM EST by mattho Stealth versus Sticks and Stones I had the chance to hear a talk by the only pilot to have been shot down in an F-117A Nighthawk. I got interested in his amazing story of the people involved in his search and rescue, so I did a little "hi-kuality Intarweb" research. What I found was an interesting story by the guy who shot down the plane in the first place. It turns out he used 1960's era missiles and radar and a lot of low tech and high ingenuity tactics. Oh, and despite what this guy says, LUCK. It sounds like the allied operations were a bit overconfident during the air war against the Serbians. They flew the same routes over and over, sent radio messages without encryption, and relied on "superior technology" to take care of them. Of course, Milosevic was the one who ended up standing trial for war crimes and genocide, so I guess it's ok for the losing side to eat Nighthawk-shaped cakes once a year. Link to this article Posted at 02:20:31 AM EST by mattho A New One!!????!?!?!?!?! After the horrible Game 2 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Washington Wizards, the Cleveland morning DJs described LeBron James' play as that of a Bizarro James. So now Copus is Number 3??? ATM Side Bet This weekend I attended a bachelor party at a riverboat casino on the Ohio River. As we walked down a hallway, we passed an ATM machine. I started out with my usual joke, "Hey, finally a game where I can win!" or something along those lines. Brian suddenly burst out with a "DAMMIT!" and Adam started cheering. Each of them pulled out a piece of paper from their pockets. Brian's said, "ATM Joke Steve" and Adam's read, "ATM Joke James." Yup, they had started their gambling that day by guessing which one of us would make an ATM joke first. Thanks, guys. Link to this article Posted at 05:21:43 PM EST by copus
Not JUST the Aeros Oh, yeah, the Aeros aren't the only big-time highfalutin minor league sports team around. There's semi-pro football (Akron Jagz), semi-pro basketball (Cuyahoga Falls Cougars), FUTURE semi-pro basketball (Akron Quakers), and, of course, indoor (not "Arena") football (Canton Legends). Oh, the entertainment options just don't END. Or start. Whatever. Link to this article Posted at 06:26:43 PM EST by copus
PoliticzORama The political incubator that is Riverdale has produced another candidate for the upcoming elections. Well, at least he's not insane. At least not completely... You know, *I* ran for office once. ![]() Link to this article Posted at 07:39:08 PM EST by copus
Jury Doodie Looks like I've been called up for jury duty next month. I can't wait to see what exciting adventures await me in the Summit County Common Pleas Court. I hope it's a mafia trial. And I get bribed. Or maybe another one of those "hot female teacher sleeping with a student" cases. I'll have to try and get her number. At least I'll get $20 for each day that I'm called up. Pure PROFIT!!!! Link to this article Posted at 07:49:31 PM EST by copus

You are my Density I went to the Indians home opener yesterday. It was like Mardis Gras, except it was wet, cold, rainy, and full of dudes. And nobody took off their tops. We did meet an usher named Destiny, although I don't think she would have taken off her top. I wonder if Destiny was her day job name, or her "night job" name? All things are relative It turns out there's a guy at work that some people call Bizarro James. And, strangely enough, it's NOT ME. That's right, I'm NORMAL JAMES. Who would have guessed that??? There's someone at work that is so strange, that I am normal by comparison. Wow. Just WOW. Link to this article Posted at 09:29:23 PM EST by copus
Playing Gaims with my phone I think my current hobby du jour is going be an attempt to port GAIM to PalmOS. It gives me a chance to redesign a 160 x 160 pixel GUI and play with porting C++ code to another platform (as if I don't get to do this at work with even more obscure platforms and languages). We'll see how long this keeps my interest. I think it would be nice to have access to a good AIM client while I'm on the road without my laptop. Besides, David tells me it would be a neat project. Too bad the bastard is too busy "getting a PhD" and "having a life" to help out... Link to this article Posted at 09:34:06 PM EST by copus
Lies, Damned Lies, and Bowling Statistics I got eleven pages of statistics compiled from my inaugural season in a work-related bowling league. I'm a really bad bowler: Starting Average: 104 Ending Average: 108 Final Handicap: 105 Highest Mid-Season Average: 109 (week 12) Lowest Mid-Season Average: 103 (week 3) High Game: 145 (week 18) High Handicapped Game: 251 (week 18) Low Game: 83 (week 18) High Series: 380 (week 12) High Handicapped Series: 701 (week12) Low Series: 287 (week 13) Average of Game 1: 106.11 Average of Game 2: 110.72 Average of Game 3: 107.89 At least our team finished in third place overall, and second place in the second half of the season. See Dead Sea Scrolls on the Sea Shore The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage near Cleveland is displaying a ton of artifacts from the early Christian era, including part of the Temple Scroll found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Marshall Football Movie Matthew McConaughey is going to star in a movie detailing the Marshall football tragedy of 1970. I guess the coach who rebuilt the team is an Akron native. I used to live somewhat close to Marshall, so I'm interested in seeing how this is portrayed. I've also been to the Huntington airport, and I'm surprised that more airplanes don't slam into the sides of the mountains around there. Link to this article Posted at 02:44:29 PM EST by copus
