Scandals! It looks like Kristin has a dirty little secret.. And it looks like Raj does too... Posted at 09:50:04 PM EST by copus You Got Served! (Dublin Edition) We got to watch a good Gaelic Storm concert this weekend. A lady near us did some wonderful drunken dancing. Unfortunately, two drunk girls (who I swear were still in high school) got bumped by her, their beer got spilled a bit, and they reacted how any sane normal person would react. They put down their beers and did their best "You Got Served" impressions. Yes, it was bizarre and surreal. And only about a dozen of us at the concert probably even noticed. It finally devolved into two DIFFERENT ladies yelling "JUST GO" to the one pair of drunk girls, and some motherly figure pushing the drunk girls away from the... umm... battleground? Ah, free entertainment at its best... Posted at 09:28:51 PM EST by copus Lonely, lazy, anti-social bastard. Well, my weekly bowling night is all but dead, and I realized that being in the working world is making me dumber and more anti-social. So, I'm in a rather foul mood. I'm too lazy to even go out to a coffeehouse to write this. Well, I guess I can maybe come up with some future vacation ideas... Well, that distracted me from my current undirected rage at the world for a little while. Remember, if anyone can, the Vatican! Posted at 09:51:27 PM EST by copus GCC 4.0 So, GCC 4.0 is coming out soon. Yes, most of you aren't that excited when a compiler comes out. Normally, neither am I. However, the new version of GCC has support for Fortran 95. This would have made me really excited about 8 months ago. I had to rewrite Fortran 95 code into Fortran 77 code, and then try to get it all to work with C++ and Ada. It took me about a month of work to figure it all out and get it all to compile and link correctly. I guess it's better late than never. I actually think that I might be one of the only people on the planet that has to care about Fortran *and* Ada anymore. Current Mood: Glad I haven't bought a house in Akron. Posted at 09:20:23 PM EST by copus Aargh! I'm Irish! And apparently a pirate. Dublin, Ohio. Home of Wendy's and the "new money" of Columbus, according to the snobby "old money" Upper Arlington people. And also home to a St. Patrick's Day Festival that I plan on attending Saturday. Let me know if you plan on going. Also, Bu sent a CD of some professionally made Costa Rica photos of our canopy tour... you know, zip lines and rappelling and stuff. This is probably the only photo I'm putting up for now, so enjoy: P.S. Upper Arlington and Dublin people, I'm only kidding. I think you're ALL equally snobs ;-) Posted at 08:16:55 PM EST by copus My toenails are FALLING OFF!!!! I know this sounds gross, but MY TOENAILS ARE FALLING OFF! I guess some explanation is in order. When I was in Costa Rica climbing Cerro Chirripo, I wore some hiking shoes that didn't have laces. This was not a problem on the way up, but it was on the way down. My big toes bruised under the nail. Ok, the picture I took didn't come out very well. Anyway, my big toenails turned black after a few days because of blood pooled up under the nails. I sort of forgot about them for a month or so, since they didn't hurt or anything. Well, today I bought a treadmill, and did a little running. After I ran, I noticed my nails weren't as dark. They weren't as dark because they were no longer in contact with my toes. They're still attached to my toes, but not completely, so I assume they will eventually fall off of their own accord. Ick. It doesn't hurt right now, but it does feel awfully funny. I hope you all enjoyed that story. Yum. Too much information, indeed. Posted at 07:55:29 PM EST by copus Kredit Kard Krap It seems one of my credit cards has been having a bit more fun than I have lately. I went to the grocery today; my card was declined. I had had troubles with that card being declined in the past, so I assumed it was some minor transient issue. Well, I forgot to buy sugar at the grocery, and when I started baking stuff (yes, I bake; I'm lame like that) I had to run out to another grocery to buy sugar. My card got declined again. (Yes, I tried to put $2 on my credit card) So, I called the 800 number on the back and the nice people told me my card had been blocked because of potential fraud. At this point I wondered if buying $2 worth of sugar was a suspicious activity. It turns out that someone had made a fake credit card using my information, bought $50 worth of gas in Pomona, California using my credit card, and then tried to spend $900 at a Best Buy with it. This would have put my card over the limit, so it was declined. However, this was enough suspicious activity to mark my card as fraudulent. The unknown person then proceeded to drive to Las Vegas and try to gamble using my card. At least my card was cancelled by then. I'd hate to think someone was having more fun with my credit line than I was. If I had to venture a guess, I'd bet that my information was stolen during one of those much-publicized security breaches at some online information companies. Idiots. Posted at 10:04:45 PM EST by copus Theses Pieces Congratulations to Amy, who just successfully held her thesis defense today. I don't remember what it was about, but I know at one point I was with her when she was shopping for something with which to construct a fake cake, and she was supposed to figure out how to ice it or something. Oh, those weird ergonomics people. Why can't they make me a chair that I like???? At any rate, she's done. Another one of the Brazenhead Bunch moves on to better things.... Aaron to Lexington, EBeams getting engaged... maybe someday Raj will defend his thesis.... Posted at 10:19:27 PM EST by copus Yes, too much information, indeed... In my quest to bring you far too much personal information about me... my cholesterol level is now 218 and my triglyceride level is now 149, both numbers FAR lower than a few months ago. Still not where I want it, but you know, I still went to Denny's for lunch. Maybe tomorrow I'll impart even more personal info... perhaps some of my neuroses and personal issues. Wait, those are public, anyway. Well, maybe I'll write an ode to a hidden mole I love so well. Posted at 09:55:01 PM EST by copus Mogging Flolly Ah, it's a beautiful world: I get back from an awesome Flogging Molly concert, only to have their only live album show up in my mail. A sweet respite from the usual bouts of cynicism and depression.... Posted at 12:16:41 AM EST by copus Potato Cakes 1, James 0 Well, my garbage disposal enjoyed my potato cakes a lot more than I did today. Mental note: make sure vegetable oil is plenty hot before frying mashed potatoes. Posted at 07:03:32 PM EST by copus |
