5 mod 3 is 2 Ok, so five guys go out and meet three girls. Guess who James gets to drive home with? Yeah, that's right, the other guy who didn't have any luck, either. Posted at 03:01:22 AM EST by copus
Teeth-grinding fun! Current Mood: Ready to jump off cliff, but only so I can latch onto some specific people and drag them along with me. It would be *so* worth it. At least I get some midnight bowling tonight. Posted at 08:52:26 PM EST by copus
My name is Ree... how do you spell that? Ah... wonderful time at TGI Friday's... the very attractive bartender took my order, asked my name to put on the bill... I started to reach for my wallet. She asked if I had to check my wallet to find out my name. Then she introduced herself as Ree... and then spelled it out for me. Then I asked her how she spelled it. Then she wrote both our names on the back of the bill, and put an arrow pointing to each of us so I could keep our names straight. I'm "special." Posted at 08:48:52 PM EST by copus
Oh, Oh, Oh, Should I stay or should I go! Every day I keep changing my mind on what I want to do with the rest of my life. I've pretty much narrowed things down to four choices: Stay in Akron, transfer to Baltimore, or get a job in Lexington or Grand Rapids. Or Boston. Ok, five choices. Part of today I was convinced that staying in Akron was off the list. But then I occasionally have fun at work or something. And Comfest 2005 is only a few months away (seeing a Comfest pic reminded me... I'm not THAT obsessive). And I like living at least somewhat close to Columbus. So, like all those other blogs, I'll put up a current mood occasionally: Current Mood: Stay in Akron unless they ask me to transfer, but only because Akron is close to things that don't suck. Arguing for fun now makes my stomach churn I added Mike's pics to my Costa Rica pics and they're all living in one big happy family at http://www.copus.org/photos/costa_rica/index.html. So, for some reason, I got in an argument at work. Not a work-related argument, mind you. Just an argument for the sake of arguing. And, the initial point of the argument made sense, but for some reason I kept trying to see if I could extend the argument's premise out. So, by the end, for some reason, I was trying to prove all of the following points: a) Title 9 doesn't effect the final tuition at most universities b) Buying a chicken sandwich at the barbecue down the street doesn't effect the final tuition at Ohio State c) the athletic department budget has no effect on the final tuition at Ohio State. Somehow, I ended up losing any coherency during the conversation. I usually argue for the sake of arguing with people, even if I don't necessarily believe in what I'm arguing.... just to see if I can do it. All it did today was put me in a really bad mood. Grrrr.... even worse, even when I clearly win the argument, the guy I usually argue with is convinced he's right. Even to the point that he was convinced that Australia uses U.S. currency instead of their own. Oh, well, maybe I'll improve if I keep doing it. Picture of the Day: Jeff wants to know if I'm a Mountain Man or Child Molester... Posted at 10:03:14 PM EST by copus
Bu's view of Costa Rica I have finally scanned in the pictures Mike took of Costa Rica. I haven't integrated them in with my pictures, nor have I organized or thumbnailed them yet. I guess you can look at them if you want at http://www.copus.org/photos/costa_rica/bupics/. I will try to leave you with a picture of the day until I finish putting these up. Today: Driving in Costa Rica was more fun than Cedar Point. Posted at 10:41:46 PM EST by copus
A Glimpse of Hell So, I saw one of the people portrayed in this movie today. He's actually my boss... well, my boss's boss's boss or something. I mean, anybody played by James Caan *has* to be cool, right? And, while I would have rather met Sonny Corleone, I was pleased with the talk he gave. And I was tactful enough *not* to bring up any gay suicide pacts during the question and answer session. I believe I really am starting to develop a filter between my brain and my mouth.... sort of.. Conversation of the night I worked out that the pictures I have of Ali humping animals are getting far more hits than my blog. My friend Elena is getting quite a few hits on her blog, but is worried that she's not saying anything really important to her audience... Elena: tell them about politics Elena: tell them about injustices Elena: tell them about the invisible people Elena: man, i feel the pressure Me: I tell them about Ali wanting to have sex with wild animals Me: I mean, that's important, right? Elena: yeah i guess .... Priorities... whatever... Posted at 10:37:51 PM EST by copus
More Costa Rica photos soon... I would have a bunch of nicer Costa Rica photos up by now, except that I left them in Columbus. I think I'm losing my mind. The reason I was in Columbus in the first place was that I left my passport, my car's proof of insurance, and a sleeping bag there last time I passed through. Now I left photos and my contact lenses and sunglasses. I think next time I shall leave a body part. Perhaps a spleen. Anyway, I may be going home to visit the parents this weekend, so I'll be able to pick them up on the way through. Because I *know* you are all waiting with baited breath to see a picture of me trying to use gravity to get some of the extra blood out of my legs on the trail. Posted at 10:12:52 PM EST by copus
Why is James Copus sleeping in bed with my naked girlfriend? It's a long story, and I'm not going to go into too many details, but one of my friends came home the other night to see someone in bed with his girlfriend. For some reason, he thought it was me. And, even stranger, he didn't do anything about it. (I think this means I have free reign to sleep with any of my friends' girlfriends now). He just slept on the floor. And, in another twist, the person who looked like me turned out to NOT be me. In fact, the person turned out to be FEMALE. So, yeah, someone confused a drunk female sleeping in his bed with his girlfriend for ME. That is SO AWESOME. Posted at 08:18:13 PM EST by copus
Sierra Club So, Abele has inadvertantly convinced me that I need to seriously consider joining the Sierra Club. Not for any environmental hippie reasons. Personally, global warming sounds kind of nice right now, and if my place in Akron suddenly becomes hot beachfront property, so much the better... ... ANYWAY, they do some weekly walks and hikes. And I need out of the apartment more often. Desperately. So, the Portage Trail local group of the Sierra Club might be a good idea. On another note, I'll be in Columbus this weekend, probably only on Saturday. I might try to get a group together for a meal if I stay that long... or maybe I'll just randomly call a person and steal their food. Posted at 10:29:21 PM EST by copus
Tivo2Go with a side of fries... My Tivo *finally* got upgraded with the new software, allowing Tivo2Go functionality. My geek room is complete... for now: The Windows box on the left is solely meant for watching my Tivo recordings... and the occasional game of Civilization if I get bored enough. Not pictured is the television to the right of all those computers for watching live television. Anyway, for those of you with a Tivo and a penchant for useless programming (yeah, you Beams) take a look at the SDK out for extending the remote capabilities of your Tivo, TivoHME, and a blog devoted to developing some apps for the Tivo: http://hme.pvrblog.com/. err... it just occured to me that both of these links were probably on Slashdot today. Oops. Anyone who'd care has probably already seen them by now. Posted at 09:16:57 PM EST by copus
More pressure to move to Baltimore... Yet another friend of mine is living in the Baltimore area... he absolutely loves it. He thinks I should move out... even said he could probably get me a job with his company. Well, I'm sure I could get a transfer within my company, so that's not that much of an issue. I'm just not sure I want to make that much of a life change right now. I'll give Akron another year... two years should be long enough for me to tell whether I want to stay at a place or not... heck, two days is usually enough. On another note.. Brian and Andrea Myers... I mean Rumschlag have their wedding pictures up. You can contact them if you want the link, but I'll put up some pictures of me so that you can wonder just how vain I really am... Going down the isle... I danced with a cute chick there... And had a quiet intelligent conversation with Patty ... or, as Bu puts it, "JAMES, I'VE HAD 6 DRINKS. I'M GETTING DRUNK. CAN YOU HEAR ME!!" Posted at 09:29:48 PM EST by copus
RSS, Furby, and the Hate of Valentines Day Now that the RSS feed *should* be working correctly (although I have a suspicion that random words my not make it into the RSS feed... such as if I mention a day of the week. Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!), I can catch up on my wildly interesting life.... ...ummm... did I mention I have the guts of a Furby sitting on my kitchen table? Abele helped choose it as the new official "Guardian of Music" for my car. I'm going to mount an RF adapter and a plug so my furby can hold my iPod shuffle and protect it from evil Tickle Me Elmos or something. Pictures will go up eventually. Also, Text Message of the Day: "Before you guns wrap that stump!" What sage advice. Oh, predictive text on cellphone... the source of so much unintentional humor. And finally, I've decided that the History Channel has their own version of "Rudolph, the Red Nose Reindeer" and the Charlie Brown cartoons. Every year, turn on the channel during prime time on St. Valentines Day, and it's the same documentary about the St. Valentines Day Massacre. And I seem to end up watching it every time..... because I don't do anything better on that day. Grrrr..... Posted at 10:48:21 PM EST by copus
