Lemurs and Sloths and Iguana, Oh My! Greetings from Costa Rica! It's about 80 degrees, sunny, and we're right on the Pacific Ocean in Manuel Antonio right now. Just killing some time before we go rapelling and play on some zip lines. Lots and lots of Americans here. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. All the prices seem to be in dollars. Muy interesante.... Posted at 09:39:28 AM EST by copus
Fry 'em up, Mount 'em up, Move 'em out. I think it's becoming obvious that I'm starting to make cooking a major hobby. I finally picked up an electric mixer and a rather nice cheese grater over Christmas. This reverses my long-standing policy that mixing dough with anything but a wooden spoon is cheating. Maybe when I have my scheduled nervous breakdown I'll start my second career as a chef.... or a crazy street preacher . I'm starting my first leg of the trip to Costa Rica tomorrow by heading to Columbus to go over supplies with Bu. Then I'm spending the night at the Bu abode and heading out at the buttcrack of dawn to the airport. So, don't expect to contact me for the next couple of weeks. I suppose the best way is to email me, but I doubt I'm going to be trying to hunt down internet cafes in the rain forest. I found out that the hotel we're staying in at least three nights in San Jose is rated at four stars. I wonder if this means it's a nice place, or if four stars means they have running water. Heck, I'll settle for running water. And a full body massage. I have simple tastes. Posted at 09:07:49 PM EST by copus
New Years, Laptops, and Psychology I guess I'm spending my New Year's Eve in Cincinnati... call my cell if you wanna crash Pat's Party. Unless you plan on setting a new BAC record first. Also, I want to give you all cheap laptops this year. Intensive Psychological Examination of James: 23:16:14 paisleydjones: don't you think that you are projecting on Shoester? 23:16:26 jrcopus: projecting? 23:16:30 jrcopus: I poop myself? 23:16:34 paisleydjones: yes 23:16:38 paisleydjones: well, maybe 23:16:41 paisleydjones: yes to projecting 23:16:49 paisleydjones: and being terrified at your parents Errr.... terrified? My Poor Kitties Not to sound pathetic or anything, but I think I made a mistake taking my cats to my parents while I'm in Costa Rica. It wouldn't be so bad, except my parents already have two cats. And one of their cats is trying to show her territorial dominance over my cats. Strangely enough, the "mean" kitty, Simon, is handling it rather well. Unfortunately, Shoester, the friendly cat that likes everyone, is scared out of his mind. He got trapped into a corner and pooped himself and doesn't seem to recognize me anymore. He's now hiding under my parents' bed hissing and growling at everyone and everything. Poor thing :-( Posted at 10:33:26 PM EST by copus
Happy Boxing Day! Happy Boxing Day! I think Americans should embrace this international post-Christmas holiday. But I also think we should horribly mangle the meaning of the holiday by celebrating Ali, Foreman, Holyfield, and that cuddly character Mike Tyson. Let's give our children boxing gloves, stuffed toys of Rocky Balboa, and face paint to make our spawn look like they just went through 14 rounds with Frasier. Man, being home for a week really *is* boring.... My theory on what the Cassini probe landing on Titan will be like. Posted at 09:34:55 PM EST by copus
Merry Christmas! I survived the trip. I-71 only slowed down badly near Mansfield and I-70 was at a complete stop a few times around Dayton, but at least the back roads to my parents place were passable enough that I could cruise along at 20-30mph. I'm still deciding on what to do for New Year's Eve. Send me ideas/suggestions/invitations if you have any. Posted at 10:22:30 PM EST by copus |
